General Combatmaster questions

I have several questions for you Detonics experts. Some of them might be kinda dumb, but I am still curious.

Are there any differences between the Mark V and VI other than the slide polishing and the 2/3 recoil springs? Would putting the Mark VI parts on a Mark V basically convert it to a Mark VI? What is the advantage of 3 recoil springs?

Do the blued guns last longer than the stainless ones, as far as wearing out from being fired a lot? I know it there are a lot of variables involved, but how many rounds should a CM take before it starts to feel worn? If Detonics pioneered the use of stainless steel in pistols, does this mean their stainless is not as durable as more modern steel?

How many of each model were made? What are their values, relative to one another? What is the difference between original Detonics and New Detonics? Which is more desirable?

Why do people always point out the different types of Detonics mags (the stamping on the bottom)? Functionally, what is the difference? Is one more rare?

Which model most closely resembles the upcoming Detonics pistols?

Is a Mark VII much fun to shoot without sights? Could you put some other sighting system on it, like laser grips or something? How much additional metal was removed to make it "snag-free"?

Why haven't there been any other .45s made to the Detonics size? The closest thing I've seen is that Kimber RCP thing, and it isn't near as sharp looking.

I guess that is enough questions for me today. I love reading the Detonics pages and forums, I just wish there was more info - and more forum posts.

By the way, I emailed Jerry Ahern to ask about the possibility of Detonics books. He said there was nothing concrete yet, but that he encouraged someone to write such a book, and mentioned the upcoming Collector's Association. I was pretty happy that he took the time to personally respond to my email. With personal attention like that, I might be able to round up the money for a new pistol after all.

Thanks guys,
Cliff
