When I seat the factory mag in my Combat Master, its upward travel is arrested not by the base of the magazine contacting the frame, but by the top of the mag contacting the ejector. While cleaning the gun, I noticed the ejector was loose, and I think its being hit by the mag is the cause. An aftermarket mag doesn't touch the ejector, but the two full-length 7-rounders that I use as reloads, do. I'm thinking of just attaching something to the front of the magazine tubes, a la 10-round Wilson 1911 mags, to limit the travel. I don't really want to deface the factory mag; are the Metalform Combat Master mags good? The aftermarket mag that I bought from Gun Parts is ugly, but works great.
