Questions about Detonics in General
By:Clifton Nichols

I read somewhere (maybe here) that the Detonics USA pistols are going to be "Series 80". I don't really understand what the functional difference is between series 70 & 80. Was the original Detonics Series 70?

What about the Full-Size and Commander-Size Detonics? How do they compare to the modern 1911s that seem to be all over the place these days? Do they offer any advantages over the newer stuff? Do newer guns have significant features the large Detonics lack?

Who here has fired a .451 Detonics Magnum? Is that thing a beast? I'm not a sissy, and I like a big bang, but a sub-compact pistol MORE powerful than a .45 ACP seems a little bit nuts. Now that I think about it, does anyone know where I can pick one up? Do you think Detonics USA will make any .451's?

Has anyone here actually seen those Escorts in the various colors? Do they look good or is it kind of gaudy? What would they be worth?

In order to strip a Combatmaster down, could I use instructions for any 1911, or are there things unique to to Detonics? Is the recoil spring swap pretty easy? I have mechanical experience, but only with motorcycles.

Lastly, how is the Detonics Collector's Association (or whatever it's called) coming along?

Thanks,
Cliff

Why don't all you people link to or post some pictures?!?!?!?! That would be great!
