Greetings Y'all, recently had the pleasure of picking up a Combatmaster here in the peoples' republic of Massachusetts which is a lucky stroke at that. Was wondering regarding field stripping. I have used the standard 1911 method of stripping without a bushing and that is fine for separating the slide, barrel and recoil springs which I left in one piece.

Putting it back together I can't seem to get the spring guide to retract back into the slide. It sticks out almost an inch.

Is there some particular trick I should know about
