The only parts on my Combat Master that show any wear, after firing maybe 800 rounds through it, are the recoil spring guid rod, and the spring plug. Unfortunately, these are the only parts that are not readily available, or convertible from stock or aftermarket "1911" parts. While perusing the wares at an Olympic Arms display at a local gunshow, I saw a top-end (slide, barrel, etc.) for their compact gun called the Enforcer. It appears to have a 3.5" barrel, and a guide rod that is almost identical, except in diameter, to that in the Combat Master. Next month (monthly show), I'll take my Combat Master spring/guide to the show, and do some comparing. The Enforcer parts are in stock, and even if it doesn't drop in, the rod could be shortened some, turned-down, etc. as necessary. I was experimenting with the ISMI flat-wire recoil spring in my Combat Master, but the ID of the spring was large enough to allow some snaking on the CM guide rod. This spring looks like a wound ribbon, and it seems to provide the proper overall rate, and greater in-battery pressure than the stock dual-spring set-up. Perhaps this flat wire spring, in combination with the Olympic guide rod, would make for an ultimate 21st Century Combat Master.
