I also have owned in the past approx. six Detonics, both stainless and blued versions. Out of those six or so, I have had only one, a MKI in matte stainless function reliably out of the box. In fact, out of approx. 800 rounds, that gun has never had a stoppage. But all the other ones have had one problem or another. I have sold all of my Detonics except one, a blued MKI that I bought about 9 months ago. This one needed tuning by a gunsmith before it would function somewhat satisfactory. Changes made were slide stop, extractor, trying different magazines, etc. I had a problem where the first round would nose dive into the feed ramp after changing magazines when shooting the gun dry. Other problems encountered were smoke stacks, and double feeds. I changed the ammo used to American Eagle 230 gr. Hardball and it seemed to help as the gun has not jammed with it yet. I've also found that shooting the blued MKI approx. 500 rds. has loosen the slide to frame fit to the point where the gun rattles a bit.
