I've been shooting my Combat Master at local IDPA matches for the last few months, and was having some kind of function problems at every one. First, I had five or six failures that I attributed to my grip; my high grip caused the slide to rub my thumb, and I was getting both failures to eject and failures to feed. The following month, I changed ammo for the last stage, and had a feed jam ruin what had been a perfect day. Saturday, I got through a 100+ round match without a bobble. That's not to say it was all roses; I dropped more points on the first stage than I dropped in all of 2004 (I'm almost not kidding), but then settled down and shot fairly slow, but accurate. My Combat Master is, right now, my only IDPA-legal gun, with the new grip safety rule, so I may shoot it at some sanctioned matches, later this year.
The gun has fewer than 2000 rounds through it, and both the guide rod and the recoil spring plug are getting pretty beat-up; has anyone bought and used the new Detonics USA replacement?
