I paid Cylinder & Slide no small amount of money to custom-build TWO Seecamp-style recoil systems for my Combat Master. C&S is using the system on their 3"-barreled Adventurer, so I figured they could handle it. The "head" of the recoil spring guide is made from very thin sheet metal, clipped to the rod. The gun had apparently been test-fired with both assemblies, and both were damaged beyond use from just those few rounds (that I also paid for . . .). Well, if they had called, and said, "Sorry the guide rods don't work", that would have been fine; but, they shipped both! Anyway, my CM frame has an over-large bevel where a guide rod head would seat (no prblem in a CM, as the stock head doesn't seat on the frame), the sheet metal head didn't have enough support, so it just collapsed. Got a full refund, but couldn't believe they shipped the damaged parts. Richard . . . somebody, can't remember his name, that used to be a honcho with Detonics and is now involved with Olympic Arms, said he didn't think the Seecamp system was the way to go. Before he could divulge the secret of the perfect recoil spring sytem, he was called away from the phone, and didn't answer my follow-up call. Spooky . . .
I'm using the two-spring OACP set from King's Gun Works, and it is a perfect drop-in.
