We had a new shooter at our IDPA match on Saturday, packing what he claimed was a factory hard-chromed Combat Master. He thought it hadn't been fired in ten years, if at all. Bone dry, and trying to feed semi-wadcutters, it didn't run well at first, but after some lube and a switch to round-nose ammo, it worked great. The gun looked very much like my circa 1980 Mk. 1, but he thought his had a Bellevue address; were they still making non-stainless guns after the switch in addresses? This gun also had an ambi safety on it, and the finish appeared to match the rest of the gun; any chance that was factory-installed? The gun seems something of an enigma. I've never actually seen factory chrome- or nickle-plated (Mks. 2 and 3) guns before; how rare are they, compared to Mks. 1 and 5?
