I remember meeting Sid for the first time at the Issaquah Sportsmen’s Club in 1976. He was test firing a Combat Master prototype. I couldn’t hide my interest. He was an immediately likeable guy, and offered to let me shoot the gun. Next thing you know, I was inquiring about a job. Sid gave me my start in the gun business.
Sid always had a story to tell, or some neat trick about gunsmithing, or just plain cool stuff about anything. It was as if he knew something about everything sometimes. When he would walk into the shop his mere presence commanded our attention. We all anticipated that something interesting was about to come forth. We were never disappointed.
The years with Sid went by all too fast.
May he rest in peace.
