First, I carried the Detonics Pocket-9 as a service weapon for more than five years. In that time I put more than 2500 rounds thru it, much was the Super Vel 112 gr. softpoint. I retired my Pocket=9 in the mid-90s after more than 10 years of daily carry, up to 18+ hours (concealed) a day.

In all that time, I have NEVER experienced a mis-feed. I have fired Canadian, British, WWII German, Italian, French, Norma, Super Vel, Remington and Winchester ....you name it...it feeds all.

The POCKET 9 (and it's derivatives) were designed by the israeli Dr Sirkis, who is also known for his Sirkis 9mm (sold by VDM in the 1980s) and the Intratec CAT-9.

The magazine, as most of you are unaware apparently, is based on the S&W Model 39. The original S&W 39 mag was shortened to hold only 6 rounds, a floorplate fabricared and welded to the bottom of the mag (like a 1911) and a new mag catch notch cut above the one done by S&W. MY FACTORY GUN came with one of these modified S&W mags. Recognizing that these mags were based on the standard S&W Model 39, I cut new mag notches into two used S&W 39 mags I bought at a gunshow and used them as 8-round spare mags. Eventually, I cut down one to duplicate the factory supplied six-rounder.

My gun was specially ordered in 1985 from Detonics and was shipped with the triggerguard frame-spur removed. I carried it in a Bianchi 3S pistol pocket originally made for the Mauser HSC.

Total production, according to SERIAL NUMBERS, WAS ABOUT 6700 GUNS.
