The Detonics collection of the late Colonel Robert Gideon will be on
display next weekend, January 21-22, at the Washington Arms Collectors
show at the Puyallup fairgrounds. I will be displaying it, accompanied
by Col Gideon's widow. There will be 64 Seattle/Bellevue Detonics
pistols on display, along with various Detonics memorabilia. The
display will be easy to find, just inside the main entrance.
For an online preview, take a look at:
Included in the collection are serial numbers 2001 and 2002, several
partnership guns, a Janus Scoremaster, a .451 kit in the Halliburton
case, 2 barrel and 4 barrel sets, fancy grips hand made by Col Gideon
in pearl, ivory, and exotic woods, and other treasures.
Yes, colt22.com is my site for collectors of Colt .22 pistols, but I
also like Detonics, and Col Gideon was my best friend for the last
20-25 years of his life. His widow wishes to liquidate the collection,
and I will be assisting her. She and I both hope to keep the
collection intact and sell it as a collection, so there are no prices
on the individual pieces yet. They may be for sale individually in the
future.
I am no expert on Detonics, so please let me know if I have made any
mistakes in the descriptions. They are based on Col Gideon's notes and
records, and on what I remember from being closely associated with him
for the past quarter century.
