Tri-County to Again Provide APBA Offshore Radio Communications

December 6, 1995

Tri-County, Inc., will again be the exclusive provider of radio communications for all National APBA Offshore power boat races during 1996 and 1997.

During the ORC Commission meeting held in Atlanta, GA, on November 18, 1995, the ORC Commissioners voted to increase the overall safety of future APBA Sanctioned Offshore races. As part of this increased safety program the Commission demonstrated affirmative action and set a standardization requirement for communications. The Commissioners who were present at this meeting, voted unanimously to require that Tri-County provide professional, FCC Licensed radio communications at all National APBA Offshore races for 1996 and 1997.

Tri-County has been the major supplier of APBA Offshore communications since 1983 and also supplies professional communications to prominent Special Events all over the United States such as IndyCar Races, industry leading air shows, world famous concerts and superior regional events. All Tri-County personnel have disaster services training backgrounds, are FAA certified and have facilitated numerous emergency operations throughout the years.

The innovative Tri-County Data Transfer System, which relays data directly from the Chief Scorer’s computer back to the Tri-County Communications trailer, will be an option available at each race. This system is invaluable for providing continual updates of the leaders for on air media. Also, the long delays for posting of the Un-Official results will be diminished, because the Chief Scorer’s computer will transfer this information directly upon completion of the race. The Data Transfer System was developed and is owned by Tri-County exclusively and each race site will have the opportunity to lease this optional equipment if they so desire.

Tri-County is a thirty-six year old diversified corporation. In addition to providing professional communications, Tri-County produces Special Events, serves as consultants to many Special Event entities and offers computer application development consultation and equipment sales.

Tri-County is always proud to be affiliated with APBA and looks forward to safe and exciting Offshore racing for all participants in this great motorsport.
