In Response To: Great so see a board on Detonics. (Rogertc1)

I bought an unfired Mk I last year, and wrestled with whether to shoot it, or trade it for a shooter. I decided to shoot the gun, so you can thank me for any increase in value that your gun derives from there being one less unfired example. They are still great guns, and while the prices are climbing into the "collector" range, I still see very nice examples in the $500-$600 range, which is well within the typical price range for new guns like the Kimber Ultra, Colt Defender, etc. My gun was purchased from a local printer (I live in Seattle), who accepted two Combat Masters as payment for services rendered to Detonics before they folded. The guy wasn't a shooter, so the guns sat in his closet for ten years. My gun is much earlier than that, so I have to assume that it was kept at the factory for some reason. It came in the pouch, with the manual, wrench and vial of Break-free still sealed in plastic. I should have bought the Mk. V, too.

A shooting acquaintence saw my gun at a local match, and told me that he has, still unfired, a cased Combat Master with interchangeable barrels in .45ACP and .451 Detonics Magnum. Get this; the serial number is 45. It was supposedly never intended to leave the factory. I told the guy, "Now if you can find number 451, you'll have quite a pair".
