I have not had that problem with any of my 1911-style guns, but have heard of it happening. My Combat Master, in fact almost all of my 1911s, have EGW oversize firing pin stops. They are not only marginally thicker and wider than stock, for fitting to the individual slide, but the heel is square, with no radius whatsoever. I only slightly round off the corner, and I believe this helps hold the barrel and slide fractionally longer in battery, increasing accuracy, and allowing the gun to unlock less violently. Especially valuable on guns running at high pressure (10mm, .38 Super), or with lightened slides (Combat Master, OACP).
