I have, over the past 15 years, owned about 6 different combat masters. Except for my one of my last two (got the Detonics bug again), they have been NIB (or should I say NIR new in rug). I have yet to see one work straight from the factory. I have had to modify the slide catches, extractors, magazines, recoil springs, magazine springs, and magazine followers before they would shoot a box of shells without jamming 4 or 5 times. In comparison my Combat Commander is somewhere around 4 thousand rounds and except for basic maintenance has never needed anything done to it and has yet to malfunction. I realize that is exceptional for a Colt but it just spoiled me on the tempermental Detonics I have had. So again, I ask is it just me or what???
Don't get this wrong, I love the Detonics design and presently own two MKVI combat masters which I carry all the time (both have which have been thourghly worked over to function correctly), but was their demise due the poor performance on reliability or have I just really been unlucky.
Thanks much for anyone else's experience.
