Thanks, Pat. I had already decided that the only part that is likely to need replacing, that can't be readily adapted from 1911 parts, is the guide rod. I'm glad to hear that the retaining screw doesn't have some magic thread. Essex sells a kit of parts for their "chopped frame" (essentially the Combat Master frame) that includes the sear spring, hammer strut and the grip plate. I've had good luck with the dual recoil springs that King's sells with their Officers ACP spring kit; they're the proper diameter, length and rate.
