You have an early model of the stainless MK VI. Within the first 1,000 anyway. Stainless serial numbers were started at 10,000: (Not 10,001 by the way). The engraving of "Professional Model" on the right side was dropped in order to save labor costs; being as each one was hand engraved on a New Hermes engraving machine, which had to be set up for each side of the slide; each batch of slides.
The castings that the slides and frames were machined from, for your era of Combat Master, were superior to those that came along later from a "lower cost" casting house. Less machining hassles than the later castings, and thus less hand fitting of parts required. Understandably, less from that era were returned for repair.
Conley's information is basically correct, but the lower the XXX of the 10,XXX is, the better the value should be.
