The skinny on metalform mags

This is my same message as: (RE: Wilson 6rd mags in CM?), just thought more people would notice this one. Anyway, Metalform mags work great. They sell them as New Detonics mags, and they are Stainless. However, you have to modify them slightly so they can "lock up" into the mag catch. I guess the New Detonics frames were slighly shorter. Ok, on the mag, the floorplate is not flat, it is slightly concave, the sides come up a little bit. Take a file and file of the front corners so they are flush with the middle of the floorplate (you will know what I mean if you look at one). Also, the tail on the follower is a bit too short. Buy their normal flat follower, and grind off the tail from about 1/8th to 1/2 of an inch. Its long enough to be reliable, and you'll still have full six round capacity.

Don't buy from Brownells, they are too expensive. Buy from Metalform, Check the price. You will notice that for quantities of 10 or higher, the price per mag is $14.45. Now, that's a quantity of 10 items total for your order, so any combo of different mags, followers, etc. that totals 10 or more will get you the quantity reduced price. Ofcourse, this is only for 45 ACP, I'm working on the problem of 9mm and 38 super mags - see my resonse to: (38 super mags) further down.
Hope this helps.
