I have MKV in 38 super and was wondering about the slide. It has grooves machined(probably cut w/ a slitting saw) inside the slide. These grooves serve no purpose that I can tell other than to lighten it or possibly make cleaning the extractor easy as it is exposed inside the slide. the ejector side has a matching cut. This gun has a 17000 serial number and all numbers match Barrel/slide/frame. I got the gun NIB so I know the history. Also what is the purpose of the lug/insert that is behind the locking lugs in the frame. It seems that maybe they wanted something harder for the barrel to hit so the frame was drilled and this piece inserted. It is not a tight fit as it does move. I have a early New Detonics CM MKVI that looks just like the older guns but has neither of these features. It is a 45 though. How long did they make the old style CMs before switching to the one pictured on this sight?
Thanks!!!
