I was reading the review of the Ranger pistol in the new Handguns magazine, and the specifications seemed oddly familiar: Steel frame and slide, 3.5" bushingless barrel, dual recoil spring system, 6-round magazine, 29oz. weight; recognize it? I compared my Combat Master to the approx. life-size photo in the magazine, and they are almost exactly the same size. The Ranger has a grip safety, which isn't necessarily an improvement; the one advantage that it has is a rear sight set at the back of the slide. If I could make one design change in the CM, it would be to move the rear sight to the rear. Has anyone seen or shot a Ranger? For the $350 higher price than I paid for my CM, I would expect it be quite a performer.
