Scoremaster recoil springs

G'day everyone.

I have a scoremaster in 45 acp which I purchased second (or maybe 3rd) hand. It's serial number starts with CRM but I don't recall the number. It is a great gun and with the right load is extremely accurate although it is fussy. The problem I have is that nobody in Australia seems to know much about detonics pistols and the dual recoil spring system. When I purchased the gun the outer (or larger diameter) spring was about half the length of the inner which was the full length of the guide rod. I presumed someone had cut it or it had broken. The recoil pressue was very low and I wasn't game to put hot loads throught it for fear of breaking the gun so I put a full length 1911 spring over the inner spring. This has made the pressue feel like about 14 to 16 pounds. I have since seen a diagram on this site which seems to have the outer spring as half length but I am unsure.

Can anyone tell me is the outer spring supposed to be full length? Can I do away with this spring system and use a single 1911 springs to allow me to alter and recoil spring pressures so I can vary the power of my loads for tartet shooting? Does anyone make the duel spring system?

Can anyone give me any detail about what my gun is like to be? How old etc.

Also is there anywhere a manual can be found for these guns?

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Howard.
