I've had to bend or peen the tab on the follower, to get consistent slide lock. It depends on the width of the follower, the dimensions of the mag tube, and how far the slide stop reaches into the magwell. If the tube is wide, the follower is narrow, and the slide stop lug is a little on the small side, you're likely to get inconsistent locking.
