Thanks for the responses. I may try heavier mag springs and see if that helps. This is not my carry gun as yet. As far as other guns go... I have had 7 differnt 1911s over the years. They all have had some problems that required attention. I have never counted, but in the course of 35,000 rounds (total number of primers purchaced) I would guess the average 1911 I owned would go 200-300 rounds between various malfunctions, and I beleive I have seen them all, such as the firing pin retainer falling down and getting caught on the hammer. I had a Star PD that was quite reliable compared to the pure 1911 design. I own a number of HK USPs with between 900 and 3800 rounds through them and NOT ONE malfunction using handloads. My P7 has yet to malfunction after over 7500 rounds. I have no reason to make this up, I do not own stock in HK and they have terrible customer service in my opinion, but they do make reliable guns. I like the way 1911's feel in my hand and have alway liked the Detonics a friend used to have. The one I bought feeds, extracts and ejects OK if I can just fix the slide stop problem. I read one report of a new Detonics USA gun that jammed 150 out of 200, so I feel lucky.
