My gun had a C&S extractor, installed by them, for a couple of years. After the hook broke, I installed the replacement myself. Do you find the Combat Master needs different hook shapes or tension than a full-size 1911? I've either installed or tuned the extractors in all of my guns, and have never had an extraction issue, except when they've died of old age.
My gun has always been sensitive to spring rates, both magazine and recoil, so I just consider springs to be a maintenance item. Still, it does seem strange that springs in full-length 7-round mags would lose a lot of tension in just a couple of months, when my 8-rounders last for a couple of years of every-week use.
